In Portuguese tradition, the cork oak is never cut down. Each harvest simply peels back a layer — and the tree grows back stronger, fuller, more resilient than before. When I lost my mother, and watched the women in my family carry on through heartbreak with quiet, extraordinary strength, I knew cork was the only material that could tell our story.
